Current Exhibits

For a small preview of the exhibits that we have to offer please scroll down the page to take a walk down history lane.  Some highlights include a confiscated moonshine still complete with a smelling sample, a medical exhibit with a prescription for liquor during prohibition, and more.  We have exhibits that represent the earliest inhabitants of pre-colonial times to the residents of the last quarter of the twentieth century.  Come experience McCreary County life as it was for the last hundred years.

While J.E. Butler was the general manager for the Stearns Coal & Lumber Company and ran the company from 1939 to 1949 he was a man that was determined to keep mine safety a priority (healthy miners meant more coal production and fewer law-suits).  Pictured here is the Roseland Family standing on the front porch of the Dr.'s house at Yamacraw in 1908.
